The Camera SnakeClamp is the Ultimate Webcam Stand

Looking for a webcam stand? Look no further. The The Camera SnakeClamp makes a great webcam stand. Some webcams such as the Logitec C920, C922 and Pro Webcams are “tripod ready,” which means they can accommodate a standard 1/4″-20 threaded stud.  You’ll find this stud on our Camera Mount Adapter and Camera Ball Head, both of which can be paired with our seven different flexible gooseneck arms (or 12″ rigid arm) and 8 mounting base options. No other webcam stand offers so many options!

The Camera Mount Adapter is suitable for use with a flexible gooseneck arm since the gooseneck itself can be adjusted by bending. If you’d prefer to use our 12″ rigid arm (which can be spliced with additional rigid arms for longer lengths), then we recommend our Camera Ball Head so that the webcam can be tilted and/or rotated as required.

New 6-Way Connection Manifold : Connect Multiple Items to your SnakeClamp

Introducing our new and improved 6-Way Connection Manifold.  This 1-1/4″ square black-anodized machined aluminum block allows you to connect different attachments or flexible gooseneck/rigid arms together.

Now you can build even more interesting SnakeClamps. For example, a workholder with several clamps for holding an object; a camera mount with lighting, or a stand for supporting several smartphones or tablet PCs at once!

The 6-Way Connection Manifold has a threaded hole on each side and includes 6 threaded studs for attaching flexible gooseneck and/or rigid arms. But you can also connect this block directly to attachments or mounting bases using the screws included with those items.  If you want to permanently embed the threaded studs into the block we recommend Loctite, available at your local hardware store.

How Is A Flexible Gooseneck Hose Tube Made?

A flexible gooseneck hose tube is a really neat invention.  You’ve seen them for years used with desk lamps and of course back in the 90’s when Black & Decker introduced the popular “Snake Light” flashlight.  As we have shown since 2010, there are hundreds of other uses for flexible goosenecks and our customers continue to give us new ideas.

So how is a flexible gooseneck actually made?  Here’s a picture of one “unwrapped:”

The inside of the gooseneck is actually a spring which is made of a high-strength steel (stainless steel can also be used if the gooseneck will be exposed to moisture). This is what gives the gooseneck it’s strength and flexibility. Then a soft galvanized iron wire is compressed into the gaps of the spring coil (stainless steel or brass can also be used). This is what gives the gooseneck it’s stiffness – or ability to hold it’s position.

Many factors determine how stiff or rigid a flexible gooseneck is as well as how much weight it can support:

  • The material used for the inner spring and outer wires
  • The outside diameter of the inner spring and outer wires
  • The the size of the spring itself (inside/outside diameter).

We inventory six different size/strength flexible goosenecks at the time of this writing. We also product custom gooseneck products for many of our customers (minimum order quantity of 500 pieces). Contact us with your request.
