Being that a SnakeClamp is a tool to “hold what you need, right where you need it,” it is vitally important that the mounting base be strong, versatile and easy to use. So today we are pleased to announce the launch of our new Megaclamp. Megaclamp by SnakeClamp Products The unique design of The Megaclamp came after a year of development work. Our challenge was to make a very strong clamp that could be used on both flat and round surfaces. We looked at many different designs and materials and eventually settled on our unique “v-block:” EPDM rubber v-block included with Megaclamp The Megaclamp is made from 1/4″ thick steel and features a black powdercoat finish. It can be used both as a table clamp for attaching to flat surfaces such as desks, tables, countertops, bed headboards, etc (anything flat) or as a rail clamp for attaching to anything round such as posts, pipes, rods, railings, etc. For attaching to round objects simply slip on the included EPDM rubber v-block: Megaclamp attached to round object with included rubber v-block Due to it’s large size, the Megaclamp can attach to flat surfaces between 3/8″ up to 2-5/8″ thick. With the v-block installed it can attach to round pipes, rods or railings from 1/4″ up to 2″ diameter. When used as a table clamp your mounting surface is protected by soft rubber pads. There are two mounting holes so that you can attach a flexible gooseneck or rigid arm either parallel or perpendicular to the threaded handle. This is useful, for example, if you wanted to attach your SnakeClamp to a bed headboard or side rail: Megaclamp used as table clamp and mounted vertically Megaclamp used as table clamp and mounted horizontally We elected to use a 3″ long handle on the Megaclamp. This makes it easy to tighten and loosen and assures that your SnakeClamp will be very secure. All of SnakeClamp attachments and mounting bases include hardware for attaching to our flexible gooseneck or rigid arms. For the Megaclamp that means a 3/8″-24 stainless steel flat-head screw, a flat washer and a lock washer.
